Differences between S355J2W steel and S355J2 steel
EN10025-5 S355J2W steel is a atmospheric corrosion resistance steel or weathering steel. Unlike unalloyed constructional steel S355J2, when copper is added as an alloy in weather resistant steel plate S355J2W, there would automatically form a barrier layer which can prevent atmosphere, moisture and other corrosion elements. This layer contains alkaline copper sulphate.
EN 10025-2 S355J2 grade is hot rolled steel product of structural steels. For delivery of S355J2, low temperature impacting test shall be done under temperature minus 20 centigree. For the S355J2 heavy plates, BBN steel can supply the product thickness up to 450mm.

EN10025-5 S355J2W weathering steel is especially intended for use in welded bolted and riveted components, which shall have enhanced resistance to atmospheric corrosion. This structural steel with improved atmospheric corrosion resistance, it is used to manufacture structural parts such as containers, railway vehicles, oil derricks, harbor construction, oil production platforms, and containers containing hydrogen sulfide corrosive medium in chemical and petroleum equipment.
